New Season is here!

Marine Life and more!

Fall Season is opening new ideas for these young artists. Here we can see Kyla sowing her first painting. She is a New member of the Studio. As you can see, her first theme to develop in acrylics was Marine Life, and you can almost feel you are scuba diving!
Congratulations Kyla. This is your first of many more. Keep up!

On my right we can see Bella. She also worked on Marine life, but she explored  an animal shape as a main feature. Great colours and contrasting tiny yellow fish!

And what can I say

about Katie and Gennie here above. Fist with another marine life showing an extraordinary use of transparency in the reflection of the light through the water, and second, Katie, with a Geisha she prepared for her Mom. A lot of work in watercolour techniques. Way to go ladies!

Quinn, one new Member not in painting, but in the older kids class. She did a wonderful job in exploring how to work glass reflections in a theme we developed last season:

chiaroscuro

Still life in light and shadow. Great job, Quinn. Now lets keep up in our new project. What will you choose?

Hanna is another of our new members that moved on from the toddler group onto the not so tiny ones. She is a creative and sensitive girl that has a great use of colour and composition. This excercise was quite challenging to start the new kids into gradations.

Another wonderful promise for the Studio.

I also like to show projects on the go. This one, marine life as well, is being painted by Agnes. She has a great sense of colour and texture. Will let you know how the progress goes.

Camilla, this is another wonder of the under water coral reef. Great use of light, and sense of transparencies. Congratulations. You have done so many wonderful paintings. I am sure your parents love the way you decorate all the house. 

Your smile can tell us everything you feel by finishing this wonderful painting!

Maddy, painting the sky is never an easy task. You worked wonderful with the use of many colours, depth and perspective in the lighthouse and the wonderful texture of the crisp waves of the water.

This theme is another one that is becoming very popular: Lighthouses!

Starting the new Season!

Fall season begins and we are starting with great enthusiasm from all of our young artists!

The themes we will be working on this Fall-Winter will be very exciting and quite challenging:

I apologise for not including only some of the projects finished in the previous term, such as abstract seen above by Catalina, where she worked on collage with diverse materials. Great composition Cata!

Our members where so excited that not even a fly could be heard! Once you are connected to something you like, the craft tends to dominate over you. i love these wonderful kids. 

Carla, one of our new members is working on a Circus life  theme. This time it is human figure of acrobats in a contemporary abstract composition.

Challenge: human figure sketch. Way to go, Carla, keep up and hope you enjoy being part of this Studio!

Teresa is working on Marine Life: a new born seal. Cute and also challenging: painting white over white  and adding fur! Congratulations Teresa. Keep up challenging yourself project after project.

Katie, a long time member is now exploring on diverse mediums: tapestry and painting as well. Here she worked on her own image altered by exposing her photograph to high contrast. 

Very Warhol! It looks amazing. Keep trying different themes, medium and styles. You will soon find something that you enjoy more and feel comfortable with in order to create your own style!

Taylor, one more of our long time members is exploring also other medium: tapestry weaving! Not only tapestry is MY passion, Taylor excelled in this wonderful mini textile.

Tapestry is not an easy technique, especially in this fast and ever changing computer-based world we live in. It is a technique that requires skills and lots and lots of patience. Congratulations Taylor for allowing yourself into new techniques.

By the way, great colours! (my favourite, you know)

Agnes, whom I have seen her grow for the past 5 years now, has been more and more exposed to different ideas and challenges as well.

Congratulations my Dear Agnes (almost my second daughter). You have improved so much and your technique has matured in these years. Keep up and maintain your love for colour!

Here once again, Agnes and her wonderful explosion of colour! love it!

Below comes Alicia, our sweet girl sharing her still life from the past season. This one inspired in a Tuscan landscape. I can even smell the cheese!

Congratulations, my Dear Alicia. I am sure that wherever it is on display it creates a wonderful space to be.

Madison finished her tree composition in an impressionist style. These birch trees where really challenging!

Below is Katie again. This time sharing her fish she created for her Dad.

This painting has an interesting story, for it was an old calendar from her grandpas home. Her dad had it for years and now she wanted to reproduce it for fathers day!

Great idea, especially for all the memories and feelings that this image is bringing to her Dad.

Paula is a wonderful artist that I have seen her grow in these past 5 years now. I love the fact that she can make almost one painting per class! she is awesome. She gives away all her paintings for her friends and teachers, custom made for their likes.

Such a giving person and in a way that I love. Keep up being so creative. Good luck in your new High school...

This was such a tremendous gift. One of her best friends had to put down her little dog due to an ageing and health issue. She wanted her friend to remember her dog through one of her photographs turned into a wonderful painting to immortalise her memory and keep up with her loss.
Thank you Paula for having such true and deep feelings, and to share your art, which is part of you, with your friends. it says so much about you!

Nicole's landscape of a place that could be anywhere in through and around the Great Lakes is so inviting.
Challenges: vanishing and gradation of the water and sky. Keep up!

Camila, a lovely girl, sweet as you can see here, is a member that is used to challenge herself in everything she does. I love the fact that she is self critical, and it is very important to always look for more and try to find the best in you. These kids are wonderful, and with the right path and skills, they are able to do anything. I am telling you. They are awesome!

This bird, a quetzal, was just a fabulous painting by Laura. She excelled the expectations on working fine detail with fan brush and feathers! wow, fabulous job Laurita. Congratulations!

Coming back to our new  themes, here is a so cute circus dog made by Arianne. Challenge: Motion, sketch and techniques. Great job Arianne! it gives the sense of mischievous puppy !

It is always fun to take classes with your friends. Here the BFF's Arianne and Teresa. They both finished the same day and it is always nice to celebrate a finished piece of art. Way to go ladies. I am so happy to have you around. Keep smiling and making me have a great time in Class.

Great job to all the members of the Oakville Arts Studio. 

I am sure that for our next exhibition soon to be announced, the surprise to see so many different artworks will be even more impressive. Keep up and remember to keep challenging time after time. Expect more of yourselves and never leave paintings half way through. If you are tired of one project because it is difficult, or you lost interest in it because you want to do something else, leave it aside, start another one and then go back to the one you started....AND FINISH IT WITH A NEW LENS!

Fall-Winter 2012 registrations

Dear Members of the Oakville Painting Studio:

    Summer is almost over and I hope you all have had a wonderful time. We are happy to announce the schedule for the Fall-Winter term 2012.

Classes resume Tuesday September 4th, and this year we are opening one more day for classes, however, the ratio per class will be reduced to give more time for each student.

Please send your information to prepare the groups. Be aware that registrations for classes will be on first come-first served basis, so make sure you send me an e- confirmation for your kids to prepare the groups.

Classes: (1.5 hour class)

 Many kids are worried to write ugly letter or make a mistake at the last moment. Let me tell you. I know it reflects your character, but it also tells so much about your effort and happy times you had while in the process of painting it.


Great job Maddy. It was really challenging to get the feathers, the colour mixes and the background!

 On this one side and below we see Sarah's mischievous birds in a branch stealing a cherry!


Difficult position and the effect of certain movements made this also a challenging one!

 Gennie finished her onions on an antique style. She was excited to try different techniques and long, short, flat or round brushes plus adding the use of sponge!

The smell and senses of  nature can be felt everywhere. Lavender fields and lilies can be spotted on some of the easels!



Our members have been very busy getting their artworks ready for our wonderful 4th Anniversary. It promises to be a wonderful show!

Lavender not only carries my favourite colour, it was my Dad.s favourite plant. Smell and colour are just delicious to have around in any garden. This field is from Provence....

Here another wonderful smile of Camilla...We learnt about Van Gogh and hes amazing production..of course, what all the kids always remembers is that :" ..it is the guy that cut his ear!.."

More and more birds still are flying in between the walls of our Studio. it seems these kids just have this ability to catch them whether on flight or still on a branch.

I have always loved hummingbirds! amazing fast creatures with incredible (and challenging) colours! great job girls....

 It is amazing how so many different birds these kids came up with. You can tell that Summer is close. Colour is in the air and the need to go outside is intense!

Nicholas. I appreciate your patience. I know how much you loooove to sketch and that painting is not your cup of tea, but look how pretty it ended up!
Now, back to sketch....OK! I agree. Lets follow our passions and do what we enjoy doing. After all, Art has to have freedom, doesn't it?

Our Opening ceremony will take place on Sunday June 17 from  2:00 until 5:00 pm.
Free parking and goodies for all the family to celebrate this wonderful exhibition.

I would like to take a space to congratulate these 2 wonderful Kids: Katie and Victoria.

Both are excelling on their activities both academically and extra-curricular ones.

Katie, studies grade 8 in Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary School, Burlington​.

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, cash, prizes and scholarships worth more than $150,000 were awarded to student participants in the 52nd Annual Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) held at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario at the conclusion of the two-day event.

More than 450 students in Grades 7 – 12 from Hamilton, Halton, Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk spent months preparing more than 300 science and engineering projects. After a day of judging and activities on Thursday and a Saturday morning of public viewing by a large and inquisitive crowd, awards were presented to nearly half of the participants.

Below is the happy face of accomplishment. Victoria, once was our youngest member of the Painting Studio. Today after getting to know her a bit more after these 3 years of sharing easel together, I extend a big hug also for her.

Gymnastics Ontario and the 2012 Challenge gave the OPC level 2 for ages 7 & 8 the Gold medals for Apparatus and All Around Categories.

 Victoria won not one but 5 Gold Medals. Congratulations Ladies for these achievements. Keep up the efforts and the spirit, and feed your heart with art. Love you girls.
